illustrated posters
For this project, we were tasked with creating two illustrated posters for an event. The event choices were provided and I chose to make poster for the Albuquerque International Balloon Festival.
process
Research involved finding information about the event and geography of Albuquerque. These aided in the creation of these posters. Both posters were created in Illustrator. To create a similar identity, both posters were created with similar attributes such as rock formations, sunrise, and hot air balloon patterns. While they needed to be similar, they needed to be different. The first posters was done in vibrant and warmer colors. The colors of the second poster are cooler and duller.

For the typography, I chose one serif typeface that was soft and did not have sharp thin-to-thick lines. It provides a friendly feeling and it is readable for the audience. The brown frame was taken out for the second poster because it was unnecessary. It took away from the illustrations and created stagnancy in the poster. Parts of the typography were given a red color to create visual interest and hierarchy.
